Labor Extends Support For Aussie Owned Festivals & Venues
Labor extends support for Aussie-owned live music and festivals
The ALMBC is very happy with today’s announcement by Tony Burke, that Labor is pledging more funding for the Revive Live program to support majority Australian-owned venues and festivals.
The ALMBC witnessed the millions wasted in the previous Coalition government’s Rise Funding, given to overseas-owned events that were cancelled without the money being returned to struggling local music industry businesses.
This election commitment extends the program to 2026-27 with an additional investment of $16.4 million, adding to $8.6 million pledged in the 2025-2026 budget. The total investment amounts to $25 million.
ALMBC Chair Howard Adams says, “This is another example of strong policy in the live music sector from this government, which has already gone above and beyond any other administration in living memory. The results of the recent Parliamentary Inquiry Into Live Music are clearly in mind here and we hope to work with Canberra on the implementation of other recommendations including the Arena Ticket Levy, Insurance reform and support for regional touring.”
The ALMBC has also welcomed policy announcements from the Greens to support Tax Offsets for for touring artists, live performance venues and theatre productions.
We are also seeking more policy information from the Coalition in regards to Live Music.
