Confusion and Despair For Lady Gaga Tickets
Once again opaque ticketing charges cause confusion and anger in the Australian market.
Aussie punters who were wildly excited about the opportunity to see one of the globe’s brightest stars in person, have once again been left out of pocket, angry and despairing, following the release of Lady Gaga tickets.
The ALMBC has called consistently for ticketing transparency and believes that the technology in currently in place for full transparency, without any concern for ticket scalping.
Once again the ALMBC calls on the major ticketing companies to play fair in the Australian market place.
We note reporting from Kelly Burke in the Guardian that the Federal Government is taking action with Minister Tony Burke stating, “There should be no hidden costs that suddenly appear at the end of a transaction and the government is taking action on this.”
This follows a government statement late in 2024 after significant advocacy from many in the industry, including the many submissions made by the ALMBC.
The issue formed a major part of the ALMBC’s submission to last year’s Parliamentary Inquiry into the Live Music Industry, which was highlighted as a recommendation in the final report.
Again – the technology to ensure full ticketing transparency is here and there should be no reason for any confusion or murkiness around the pricing, ownership and digital status of any ticket.
Ticketing companies owe this clarity to their consumers and we continue to call on the federal government to immediately take action to outlaw unfair ticketing practises.
