Creative Workplaces has released the Creative Workplaces Foundations, a framework for fair, safe and respectful working arrangements in the creative industries
Creative Workplaces, part of Creative Australia, has released the Creative Workplaces Foundations, a new resource for creative businesses and organisations that employ staff or hire self-employed workers and independent creatives. It is designed to help when recruiting a new employee, engaging an artist or freelancer for a project, reviewing workplace policies and practices, or taking steps to build a fairer, safer and more respectful workplace.
The Essentials set out the must haves for fair, safe and respectful working arrangements, covering minimum legal obligations and giving a starting point for reviewing existing practices or engaging new workers. The Journeys go further, setting out the steps to move beyond the minimum requirements.
Downloadable workplace policy templates cover codes of conduct, work health and safety, flexible work, grievances, leave, unacceptable behaviours and child safety, and can be tailored to each business or organisation. A set of how to guides gives step by step instructions on common challenges, including working out what an employee will cost, developing a safety management system and having difficult conversations at work, which should suit music venues, promoters and agencies that engage a mix of staff and contractors.
