The Elixir Bar is under threat and needs our support.
Following the successful campaign to save Alice Springs’ Black Wreath, the ALMBC is getting behind the Elixir Bar Cairns, which is under threat.
ALMBC EGM Ant McKenna has just been in Cairns meeting with local industry leaders and attending shows, including at The Elixir.
Elixir is a two story space with a separate upstairs that has an offer to purchase. This would make Elixir’s role of building, supporting and growing grass roots live music in the region, impossible.
In regional places like Cairns, there is a tiny number of spaces that support grass roots live music and if we lose the Elixir Bar, we will lose a huge contingent of creatives to southern cities.
If you have a dollar to spare, please do support this campaign for the not-for-profit entity to purchase the upstairs space.
