Can Australian Music Survive in the Age of Spotify?
Following extensive advocacy by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), supported by the ALMBC, the Federal government have opened a Federal Inquiry into insurance for small businesses by the Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services – in fact the inquiry was launched closely following the partnership between ALMBC and the ICA to launch a significant report in October 2025.
This is the outcome we have been hoping for and submissions close 6 March 2026, which gives us time to build strong consensus across the continent.
The ALMBC is be leading a national response, on behalf of our members. We also hope to partner with all other national music industry organisations and state bodies in a unified national response from music small businesses.
The ALMBC has prepared a draft response and we seek your feedback to finalise the document.
