Pressure Builds on Global Industry Big Players
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that the muso’s arm of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance is calling for a high-level probe into the corporate players in the live music industry in a bid to stamp out “anti-competitive” practices they say are leaving them struggling to make a living.
The MEAA want the dominance of Live Nation investigated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
Live Nation is the world’s biggest concert promoter and ticketing company is the subject of an anti-trust investigation in the United States.
The ALMBC understands the important role that major corporations play in the global music industry, but is also calling for more to be done to ensure that the local grass roots music industry is supported.
