The Remote Music Rangers program will keep running in the Northern Territory after a $100,000 grant from the Albanese Government, with the extended program starting in January 2027.
Up to 12 Remote Music Rangers will support local musicians and lift participation in music events. The first placements are in Tennant Creek, covering the broader Barkly region, and Gunbalanya in partnership with Injalak Arts Centre, with more locations and communities to follow.
The program is delivered in partnership with MusicNT and works alongside the Remote Indigenous Media Organisation, Aboriginal corporations and regional councils. Its focus is straightforward: connect the songs and sounds of the Territory to the people and places that make them.
ALMBC continues to advocate for regional and remote live music infrastructure and workforce development as part of a national approach to the sector and we are stoked that this program has been funded. Congrats to Music NT and all involved.
