Get behind One of WA’s most important regional projects
Always Good Nights is a boutique live music series that has been quietly doing some of the most important grassroots work in the country since Kelsie Miller started it in Bunbury back in 2015.
The idea is simple: put singer-songwriters in front of a seated audience that is actually there to listen, and do it somewhere other than a pub.
Over the years that has meant churches, art galleries, museums, backyards, wineries and breweries right across regional Western Australia, from Port Hedland to Albany. More than two hundred shows and close to five hundred musicians later, Good Nights has become a genuine lifeline for original music in towns that would otherwise rarely see it, and a proving ground for solo and duo artists from every corner of Australia.
Kelsie is now building towards the 2027 Good Nights Mookaroo-k Goomburrup Winter Series, which will pair WA songwriters together in the first half of next year to create new work for debut at the festival in July.
To help make it happen, Always Good Nights is currently fundraising through the Australian Cultural Fund. The ACF is run by Creative Australia, every dollar goes straight to the project, and donations over $2 are tax deductible. If you have ever wished there were more people putting on thoughtful, all-ages, original music in regional Australia, this is a very easy way to back one of the best. Chuck in whatever you can.
