Member Forum 21 Feb 2023
ALMBC Member Forum 21 Feb 2023
The ALMBC invites members and partner organisation members to attend our monthly forum on February 21st at the following times around the country:
WA: 1:00PM
NT: 2:30PM
QLD: 3:00PM
SA: 3:30PM
NSW/VIC/TAS/ACT: 4:00PM
This month’s forum will be focussing on 2 key matters:
1. Insurance
What we’re doing and what you can do to improve the insurance market
- We will provide the membership with an update on the work we have been doing with our key brokers, Ausure and Nexus, in relation to setting up pathways for the industry to obtain coverage in the market.
- Additionally, we have been pursuing a number of longer term solutions and working closely with the Insurance Council of Australia to explore what legislative and policy frameworks need to be reviewed and the role the Federal and State Government can play in this reform.
- We have also been exploring Discretionary Mutual Funds so will also provide an overview on the pros and cons of DMFs and whether this suits our market.
- But one of the most important areas the live sector needs support in is education on how to mitigate risk and reduce the potential for liability in claims.
Speakers: Andrew Bassingthwaighte (Xcelerate and ALMBC Board Member); Stephen Rinder and Justin Dickings (Nexus); Travis Hargraves (Ausure)
2. Revive
The new National Cultural Policy: what does it mean for live music around the country
As many would have heard, the new National Cultural Policy – Revive – was launched on the 30th January this year.
There is a lot to be celebrated in that policy with a renewed focus on the contemporary music sector in Australia for the first time in a very long time – arguably ever! We want to talk through some of the key features of the policy, the work the ALMBC did in the background and the work we are currently doing since the policy was launched in our conversations with other industry stakeholders and with Government.
What we do want to know though it what you think and what areas you would like to ensure we are raising and addressing with industry and government.
