Can Australian Music Survive in the Age of Spotify?
ALMBC Executive General Manager Ant McKenna spoke on today’s Qld Tourism Industry Council hosted Insurance Workshop, bringing together tourism operators, insurers, brokers, lawyers and researchers to discuss the growing insurance challenges facing the industry.
Other speakers include Insurance Council of Australia’s Tom Lunn, Qld Hotels Association Bernie Hogan and many more.
For many businesses, rising premiums and high excesses are affecting whether they can afford to open their doors.
Participants also explored solutions, including stronger disaster resilience and infrastructure, improved risk management and accreditation, addressing insurance supply, and reforming litigation settings such as tort reform and tackling the widespread “no win, no fee” system that is driving claims and premiums.
While operators have worked hard to minimise risk, it’s clear that broader structural reform is needed to ensure tourism businesses can access sustainable and affordable insurance into the future.
