Forever Young, the first Australian War Child benefit album, is out on 20 November with 100 per cent of proceeds supporting children affected by conflict
Some of Australia’s best-known artists have teamed up with the music charity War Child for Forever Young, a compilation album of new and rarely heard recordings that will be released on 20 November, World Children’s Day, with all proceeds going to children living through conflict.
The album is the first Australian benefit record for War Child, and the track list was announced on 1 October. Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly and Sarah Blasko team up on a new song, Dance On Fire, Ruel has recorded an acoustic version of Helplessly Hoping, The Temper Trap have covered The Triffids’ Wide Open Road, and Youth Group and Paul Mac have put together a Forever Young 2026 Flashback Remix to mark 20 years since Youth Group’s number one single. Grace Cummings, Augie March’s Glenn Richards, Loose Content, William Crighton, The Nagging Doubts and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are also on the record.
War Child works to support children in conflict zones, with a focus on education and on the psychological recovery of children after the worst of the fighting has ended. The organisation says 100 per cent of proceeds from the album go towards that work, and the record is available to order through the War Child Australia website.
Corner Soul, the Sydney firm that worked on the project with War Child, says Paul Kelly, The Temper Trap, Missy Higgins and King Gizzard have all waived royalties on exclusive music for the album, JB Hi-Fi has waived its entire margin, and Ruel and Sarah Blasko have made new music videos to go with their tracks. It also says five artists on the record have been nominated for ARIA Awards, and that War Child will be part of the ARIA Awards show.
Corner Soul is led by ALMBC Chair Howard Adams. This project is being promoted by the ALMBC because it is a charity. The ALMBC Chair was not involved in any discussion nor decision about publishing.
