Can Australian Music Survive in the Age of Spotify?
ALMBC Treasurer Kylie Thompson Wins Australian Public Accountant of the Year
Big congratulations to our Treasurer, Kylie Thompson, who has been named Public Accountant of the Year at the 2026 Australian Accounting Awards.
The award was announced on Friday 12 June. Kylie came out on top of a deep national field, which makes the result all the more impressive.
Kylie runs Sorrento Strategic Accounting and sits on the ALMBC Board as Treasurer. Anyone who has worked in live music knows the financial side is rarely simple. Tight margins, lumpy cash flow, ticketing, touring costs and venue economics all pulling in different directions.
It was a good night for her firm too, with her son Alexander Thompson named a finalist for Young Accountant of the Year.
The Australian Accounting Awards, run by Accountants Daily, are judged independently and are one of the most respected gongs in the profession, so this is serious recognition from Kylie’s peers.
From everyone at the ALMBC, congratulations Kylie. Thoroughly deserved.
