QLD Music Trails and Queensland Music Festival have announced the 2027 Outback Trail, a self-drive run through seven outback Queensland towns from Charleville to Mount Isa starting Saturday 8 May.
Kingswood, Dear Tommie and Jess Holbrok open the trail at Charleville, Troy Cassar-Daley headlines Dusty Days in the Qantas Founders Museum hangar at Longreach on 14 May, and Pete Murray, Pierce Brothers and Y.O.G.A play Outback Sounds at Mount Isa on 22 May, with Tori Darke as trail ambassador.
Dusty Days is presented with Opera Queensland’s Festival of Outback Opera and marks what would have been Slim Dusty’s 100th birthday year.
The 2026 trail was the biggest yet, with attendance up 95%, more than 7,650 people over 16 days including 2,339 visitors from outside the region, 21,684 bed nights and $2.6 million in visitor spending across Queensland.
